Privacy notice

Who we are

The data controller for this website is Web Designer Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 15002899), whose registered office is at 119a Flat 2 Uxbridge Road, London W7 3ST, trading as London Builders (“we”). You can reach us, including about any privacy request, through our contact form.

This notice covers our three forms: the enquiry form, the homeowner quote-request form and the builder application form. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

Enquiry form

When you send an enquiry we collect your name, email address, optional phone number, the postcode of the property, the type of work and your message. We use them to reply and, if you ask us to, to prepare a quote. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).

Homeowner quote requests

What we collect: the type of work, your description of it, the property postcode (and the postcode area and borough, which your browser works out from it using a list built into the page, without sending it to anyone else), your rough budget and timeframe, your name, email address and, if you give it, your phone number, plus a record that you ticked the consent box.

Why: to find checked builders who cover your area, nearest first, and pass your request to them so they can contact you about the job. Matching is automatic, using the rules on our how it works page. It only decides which builders receive your request and has no legal or similarly significant effect on you. You can ask for a person to look at any match again through our contact form.

Who receives it: with your consent, we share your details with up to three independent builders who cover your area. We never share them with more than three builders for the same request, and we don't sell them or use them for marketing. Each builder that receives your details becomes responsible for how it uses them, under its own privacy notice.

Lawful basis: your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time, using the link in our email to you or through our contact form. We'll then stop sharing your details and delete your request, but we can't recall details already passed to a builder, so please also tell that builder directly.

Builder applications

What we collect: your business name, contact name, email address, phone number, Companies House number (if you have one), trades, base postcode (and the postcode area and borough worked out from it), the boroughs you cover, the furthest you'll travel, insurance answer and insurer, details from your insurance certificate (insurer, policy dates and cover level) if you send it, memberships, website and the description you give us.

Why: to check your application by hand, contact you about it and, if you're listed, introduce you to homeowners with suitable projects. When we introduce you, we may share your business name, contact name, phone number, email address and website with that homeowner.

Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into an arrangement with you (Article 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in checking the businesses we introduce (Article 6(1)(f)). To check details we look at public registers such as Companies House and the membership schemes you name. We use your base postcode and the boroughs you cover to decide which homeowners to introduce you to, nearest first, as explained on our how it works page.

Who processes it

Cloudflare hosts this website and, for quote requests and builder applications, stores the details you send in a Cloudflare D1 database and sends our emails from hello@londonbuilders.co.uk. Cloudflare also processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site, and may process data outside the UK under the safeguards in its data processing terms.

Cloudflare Turnstile runs a security check on the quote-request and builder forms to block spam. It processes signals such as your IP address and browser details, and doesn't set cookies on this site. Read Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy addendum.

To limit spam, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address with each form and consent record, never the address itself.

FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) delivers the enquiry form on our contact page to us by email. Quote requests and builder applications don't go through FormSubmit. It may process data outside the UK. We don't sell your data.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and homeowner quote requests: up to 12 months from when you send them, then deleted automatically. The record of which builders we introduced is deleted with the request. If you become a client, we keep project records for as long as needed for legal, tax and warranty purposes.
  • Builder applications: for as long as you're listed, plus 12 months. If we don't list you, up to 12 months from your application. If you ask us to remove your listing, we stop introductions straight away and keep your details for 12 months in case of questions or complaints, then delete them.
  • Consent records and our internal activity log: 12 months.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. To make a request, use our contact form. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
